“Lost” Marks a Softer, Reflective Return for Olivia Dolphin
Known for her evocative songwriting and magnetic stage presence, Dolphin steps into quieter territory with this track, revealing a softer, more reflective dimension to her work.
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (November 7, 2025) — New England-based artist Olivia Dolphin returns November 14 with her new single “Lost,” the first glimpse of her upcoming five-track EP All the Time We Spent, due in December.
Following the breakout success of her 2024 album Better, which solidified her reputation as one of the region’s most promising new voices, “Lost” marks a moment of reflection and emotional growth. The song trades the high-energy anthems of Better for something softer and more vulnerable, with live instrumentation that highlights Dolphin’s strength as a storyteller and vocalist.
Written during what she describes as a period of deep sadness and reflection, the song explores the connection between love and loss and how both shape who we become. Recorded at Big Nice Studio, “Lost” features live, improvised acoustic guitar from Luke Leheny, creating an atmosphere that feels immediate and unguarded. Dolphin reflects on how loss can deepen our capacity for compassion and self-understanding. The song’s sparse production mirrors that theme, emphasizing space and breath.
“Lost” introduces the core emotional landscape of All the Time We Spent. Lyrically, the song balances quiet acceptance with restless searching. It is about looking back at what has ended and finding peace in what remains. One of its most striking lyrics encapsulates that introspection:
If I shake the 8 ball hard enough
Will it finally tell me what I want to hear?
I read my horoscope, it’s all my worst fears
For Dolphin, the song is a step toward stillness. After a year of momentum fueled by Better—which received praise from local publications including Motif Magazine and The Public’s Radio for its “piano-driven witch-pop” and dynamic live performances—she is now interested in exploring intimacy and clarity.
The Olivia Dolphin Band has had quite the year, recently winning Motif Magazine’s Battle of the Bands in Providence, RI, as well as a Motif Award for Favorite Album with Better. The band also received five nominations at the New England Music Awards, including Album of the Year and Pop Act of the Year. Heading into 2026, Dolphin and her band anticipate more live shows across New England as they support the upcoming EP project.
“Lost” will be available on all major streaming platforms beginning November 14.
