Reckoning and Rebirth With Steinsdotter’s ‘twice born’ Mixtape
LONDON, UK (February 9, 2026) — Experimental songwriter and London-based artist Steinsdotter will release her new mixtape, twice born, on March 3 during the total lunar eclipse, marking a major creative milestone in her evolving body of work. The project brings together some of her most impactful recent releases with a powerful collection of new recordings that further expand her sonic and conceptual universe.
The mixtape features critically supported tracks such as “God’s Own Speed,” “5D,” “HoneyBee,” “The Village (Occult Hardware Remix),” “LDN Calling CDMX” featuring Lovec MX, and “Air (Ncient Remix).” These songs have helped solidify Steinsdotter’s reputation for blending dark pop, electronic experimentation, and ritualistic intensity, earning international press attention, playlist traction, and growing DJ support. “HoneyBee” emerged as a breakthrough moment, climbing high on the U.K. club charts and becoming one of Steinsdotter’s most recognized releases to date. The single also received a coveted Record of the Day feature, further solidifying this magnetic artist’s impact within the industry and among tastemakers.
Alongside these established tracks, twice born introduces a striking set of new material. The mixtape includes “h0e$,” arriving as a single February 27, a track that crackles with high-voltage energy, blending industrial grit with raw, unfiltered intensity. Additional new tracks include “Return In,” “Troll Mor,” and “Leonard Cohen Was Right,” all recorded in Coyoacán, Mexico City, as well as “Inspired by Gilgamesh,” a piece influenced by The Epic of Gilgamesh, the earliest known great work of literature, dating back to around 2100 B.C.
“Leonard Cohen Was Right” serves as a heartfelt ode to the legendary songwriter and has already become a live performance favorite. “Return In” developed organically from a studio jam inspired by the song “In The Little Way That I Can,” evolving into a chant-like piece that has taken on new meaning through the recording process. “Troll Mor” offers a reimagining of a traditional Norwegian lullaby, featuring Takatsuna Mukai on Portuguese guitar, an instrument he reportedly mastered on the spot in just 20 minutes, adding a distinctive and unexpected texture to the track.
Collaborations and influences on this project span the globe, from India (Ncient) to Mexico (Lovec MX and Topetitud Estudios), London (Agon Branza and Occult Hardware), and back to Steinsdotter’s homeland of Norway. “I naturally love working with people from different backgrounds and lived experiences,” Steinsdotter said. “Everyone involved in the making of this mixtape brought their own unique perspectives and tastes, ideas I could never create just on my own.”
With twice born, Steinsdotter continues to push boundaries, weaving ancient mythology, underground club culture, Nordic tradition, and modern electronic pop into a cohesive and fearless artistic statement.
twice born will be available on all major streaming platforms March 3.
